RESEDA - While Jesus asked his disciples to be fishers of men, worshippers at Zoe Christian Fellowship may consider the Rev. A. Eugene Parker to be more of a lifeguard.
It's Parker, they say, who has thrown them a spiritual lifeline and pulled them from the turmoil enveloping their lives.
"There was a crying in my heart. I felt trapped in a very bad relationship. Pastor Parker had an altar call. I went up and he laid hands on me and I felt this electricity. I was able to release a lot of that emotional trauma," recalled church member Michaela McNeil.
McNeil and other members of the congregation will honor Parker's 12-year ministry in the west San Fernando Valley on Oct. 18. The program will be an eclectic mix of testimonies, music, dance, drama, mime and a luncheon.
The nondenominational Zoe Christian Fellowship of the San Fernando Valley was founded in July 1996, part of Zoe Christian Fellowship International, which has 21 other congregations
