PALMDALE - A high school and adjacent elementary campus were locked down for about an hour Thursday after students at the high school reported that a man brandished a gun at them from a nearby house.
A group of Highland High School students told sheriff's deputies that a boy from the home fired plastic pellets from an Airsoft pistol at them about 11:30 a.m. then went back into the house after they began throwing rocks at him.
Later, a man appeared in the backyard of the home and brandished a firearm.
After Highland and Cottonwood School were locked down, deputies searched three homes near the 39000 block of Virginia Street.
Nobody was detained and no gun was found, deputies said.
