David Spies stands on the corner of Tujunga Avenue and Woodbridge Street Friday morning waiting for a break in traffic so he can step off the curb onto some of the most dangerous real estate in Studio City.
It's a crosswalk that spans Tujunga, near an Italian restaurant called Vitello's - made infamous one night seven years ago by actor Robert Blake.
Not a car has slowed or made any effort to stop as Spies tries to take a step off the curb, but after a few minutes he finally catches a break in traffic and walks quickly across.
It's like playing one of those football video games and scoring a touchdown, Spies says. You want to throw your arms up in the air and celebrate, but this isn't a game.
Those are real cars that can hit you, not video game linebackers. Cars kill.
