Court order sought against 6 street gangs

City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo said Friday he is seeking one of the city's largest gang injunctions to control the activities of six street gangs operating in a 13.2-square-mile area of South Los Angeles.

"This proposed injunction and Safety Zone have been carefully tailored to address the continuing problem of gang violence by six notorious street gangs in South L.A.," Delgadillo said in a statement. "With this injunction my prosecutors and the LAPD will have an important tool they can use to suppress ongoing gang violence and help start the healing process in this community."

The six gangs are all believed connected to the Bloods, based on the gang signs they use, officials said.
