SAN FERNANDO - The girlfriend of one of two teenagers accused of stabbing a drifter more than 50 times last summer testified Thursday that she heard the victim moaning before she walked away saying, "I can't be near this. I got to go."
Emily Kent is a key witness in the brutal Aug. 25 slaying of Daniel Koch - who studied art at California State University, Northridge, before adopting a life of living on the road.
Kent's boyfriend, Quinn Marez, 19, and his childhood best friend, Justin Thalheimer, 19, are accused of killing Koch after a drunken fight at Limekiln Canyon Park in Northridge.
Kent, who still considers Marez her boyfriend, testified Thursday in a preliminary hearing at San Fernando Superior Court that the two teens walked away from a confrontation with Koch at the park and over a bridge. She said the two teens were very upset and insisted they would return to make Koch apologize
