Lakers center Bynum didn't expect All-Star accolade to come his way

PHILADELPHIA - Andrew Bynum responded to being snubbed for the Western Conference All-Star team with a shrug. He expected it. He said a few days ago the selection process was "political" and he didn't anticipate being named to the team.

"Not really," he said Friday when asked if he was disappointed. "I pretty much knew what was going on. It's all right. I'll try again next year. It doesn't matter to me. There are a lot of forwards on the team, but there's nothing you can do about it.

"It's the same goal to try for next year."

Bynum was second in voting among centers in the West, but he pointed out several times Amare Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns isn't a true center. He laughed when it was suggested he would benefit if the Suns dealt Stoudemire, as rumored.
