David Beckham's previous team, Real Madrid, won the Spanish League title earlier this week. His other team, Manchester United, is on the verge of winning the English League title on Sunday.
"I'm just hoping Manchester United wins the league," Beckham said Friday. "That would be a great year for me."
And his current team? The Galaxy is alone in third place in the Western Conference of the MLS standings, one point behind FC Dallas and a game ahead of Chivas USA.
OK, it's not quite the glamour of playing against Barcelona or Chelsea, but there is some MLS glitz tonight when the Galaxy (2-2-2) host New York at Home Depot Center at 7:30.
The Red Bulls (2-1-2) feature the league's rising star, 19-year-old forward Jozy Altidore, along with former Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel, who might make Beckham feel he is back in Europe.
