ANAHEIM -- Sometimes you can sense it coming, right? At least building. Something special in the works.
A team has this attitude, a clear focus and determination. It's going for a championship. There's a single- mindedness that almost screams it's going to happen.
The Ducks had it last season. An entire team with a solitary vision that seemed contagious.
"When I got here last year, everyone just had that mind-set, had that focus," said Ducks defenseman Chris Pronger. "We were determined we were going to win and weren't going to be deterred."
But it's a long playoff grind with a short offseason for a Stanley Cup finalist, and the Ducks have never quite resembled the same team this season.
There have been the obvious reasons. The quick turnaround to a new season. Starting the year in London. Not knowing if Scott Niedermayer or Teemu Selanne would return. Then working them back in, one by one
