ANAHEIM - Brian Sutherby hasn't been a part of the Stanley Cup playoff atmosphere since his rookie season with the Washington Capitals in 2003.
For Sutherby, whom the Ducks acquired at midseason to bolster their energy line, the feeling at the rink Tuesday was all but brand-new.
"It's been interesting to watch how we prepare and get ready for these big games," Sutherby said. "Down the stretch here, it's been a lot of fun to be a part of."
The fun has scarcely begun for the Ducks, who enjoyed their first postseason practice Tuesday in preparation for Thursday's playoff opener with the Dallas Stars. There might have been less friendly chatter and harder checks than in the team's final regular-season games, meaningless in the standings, against Phoenix and the Kings.
With a veteran-laden team, the pace seemed to pick up without cue.
"We obviously know what this means now, playoffs are starting," defenseman Scott Niedermayer said
