ANAHEIM - Chris Pronger has had more time than any of his teammates to check the NHL standings the past three weeks.
The Ducks' captain began serving his league-mandated, eight-game suspension March15, the same day the Ducks and Dallas Stars became locked into the fourth and fifth seeds, respectively, in the Western Conference.
So when the first round of the playoffs begin Thursday between the Stars and Ducks at Honda Center, the opponent will come as no surprise to either team.
"It's something we've been looking for the last eight games or so," Pronger said, "having played (Dallas) twice, San Jose being kind of out of our reach, knowing that the first-round possible opponent was going to be Dallas."
