LONG BEACH -Brad Penny had every reason to be in a sour mood Thursday.
The day before, the Dodgers starter had been shelled by the New York Mets. Ten runs and 10 hits in 4& 2/3 innings. His location was off, his luck was non-existent.
The only silver lining was Thursday was an off day for the Dodgers and he didn't have to go back to the park at all.
A couple of months ago, Penny had committed to host a half-day fishing trip with 40 disadvantaged kids out of the Long Beach harbor.
Not exactly an easy day, or an easy drive from his house in Calabasas.
So much for the off day.
Penny had every reason to be in a sour mood.
Except that Penny loves fishing. Anytime, any place, anywhere.
