No one went to Monday's practice dressed in a blue work shirt with his first name sewn on a patch over his heart. No one donned a hard hat. No one swapped his high tops for a grimy pair of work boots. No one brought a lunch pail or a tool belt.
The familiar luxury automobiles still lined the parking lot.
There wasn't a battered pickup truck in sight.
The Lakers embraced a harder, edgier mentality when they arrived for work, however. They realized after defeating the Utah Jazz in a rough-and-tumble Game 1 of their second-round playoff series Sunday that they must adapt to a new style of play.
They know they must be willing to roll up their sleeves - figuratively, at least - if they hope to win the best-of-7 series and advance to the Western Conference finals.
They said they are prepared for more shoving, more pushing, more elbows and more fouling in Game 2 on Wednesday night at Staples Center. They have come to expect that sort of physical play from the Jazz
