PARTY FLORAL TIP
If you're inexperienced with floral design, use one color and mix the types of flowers, say Mark Held, left, and Richard David of Mark's Garden in Sherman Oaks. All white flowers, very popular and classic, with a dash of green, lend themselves to beautiful, successful arrangements. Also cut and use roses from the garden in a vase. Mix them with something from a flower shop - like lavender or hydrangea - for a natural look.
While flowers make people happy, combining them well is an art, note Mark Held and Richard David of Mark's Garden in Sherman Oaks, who share these hints.
Just about anything goes. There are no rules anymore. Held notes the shop uses a ton of roses, partly due to all the incredible variety of colors. Orchids are popular, too.
Glass is currently the most popular container. It doesn't fight with the flowers. Go with a simple shape (square) medium-size vase and medium-size flowers and you'll be safe
