MLS: Despite his fiery play, earning him a yellow card, Goats lose and are winless in five games.
A minute after Chivas USA had given up the first goal of the game - a regular occurrence for that team - captain Jesse Marsch began a one-man campaign.
The veteran midfielder picked up a yellow card with a hard challenge of Kenny Mansally, who had scored for the New England Revolution.
Late in the first half, Marsch tagged defender Wells Thompson at midfield, drawing a stern warning from referee Mark Geiger, who would not have been faulted if he had brought out a red card.
In the second half, with Chivas down by two goals, Marsch kicked a dead ball right at an opponent, prompting several members of the Revolution to get in Marsch's face.
Yet there was little the fiery Marsch could do in order to fire up Chivas USA, which remained winless in its past five games with a 2-1 defeat to New England in front of an announced crowd of 10,927 at Home Depot Center Sunday
