Chivas' roster keeps evolving

Chivas USA acquired veteran defender Carey Talley, a onetime teammate of Preki, from Real Salt Lake on Friday for a conditional pick in either the 2010 or 2011 SuperDraft. In addition, defender Chris Pozniak was waived and defender Dan Gargan announced his retirement.

Talley has one goal this season but is currently nursing a bruised thigh. He scored three times last season for Real Salt Lake, including a goal against Chivas. In his 11th MLS season, Talley, 31, played with Preki at Kansas City from 2002-03.

"Carey is an experienced, consistent defender who can play both in the middle and on the outside," Preki said. "We're glad he's joined the squad and think he'll be a good fit for us as we move forward."
