The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell two-tenths of a cent today to $3.119, the third decrease in 13 days.
The average price is nine-tenths of a cent less than a week ago, but 5 cents more than a month ago and 18.7 cents more than at this time last year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
"The gas price spread between this year and the same time last year has shrunk from a difference of about $1.10 per gallon in January to just four cents per gallon in early June, but now the gap has widened again," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
