Bargain Hunter finds deals for wine, sandwiches and sushi

RECYCLING PERKS

I wish I lived in Everett, Mass. The lucky folks there get paid to recycle. Residents earn rewards, like discounts at Starbucks or the grocery store, based on how much they recycle. The program is run by RecycleBank, a New York start-up. Recycling rates have increased tenfold since the company started operating in Everett, according to a Newsweek story. RecycleBank wants to expand in the South and Midwest, where recycling rates are much lower than on the coasts, leaving more room for improvement. So it may be hard to persuade them to come to Los Angeles. Perhaps I will move. So what if it snows in Everett? Free lattes! Free lattes!!



LINCOLN LUNCH: SUSHI

I was thrilled to find a super-cheap sushi restaurant at SushiMac in Sherman Oaks, where each roll is $2.75 including tax. But I braced myself. The food was probably really bad.
