You've heard about the massive online garage sale known as Craigslist, but there are other Web sites that facilitate the trading of goods languishing in your house.
Freecycle.org is a network of people who give away stuff to their neighbors. Within the network there are groups for Northridge, Burbank-Glendale, Long Beach and many others.
Each neighborhood network is set up as a Yahoo group where members can post messages and scan items other members are giving away. Joining is free.
LendList.org is similar to Freecycle but items are loaned, not donated, and you share your items with a smaller network that you choose.
Basically, you compile a list of things you want to loan and send it to your friends, family, co-workers, or fellow church members. The site tracks who has what and keeps your contact info private.
LendList makes sense if you want to share items you rarely use, like tools, bicycles, an RV or kitchen gear. Joining is free.
