A 420-acre forest fire burning in the Angeles National Forest near Mount Baldy since Tuesday was 60 percent contained today, officials said.

More than 750 firefighters from various agencies remain assigned to the blaze, which started about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday near Mount Baldy in San Bernardino County and spread into Los Angeles County within a few hours. Its size has remained about the same.

Six "recreation residences" remain evacuated in the Bear Canyon area, but no buildings have been lost and no injuries have been reported, officials said.

Mount Baldy School is expected to reopen today, but Mt. Baldy Road remains open only to area residents, officials said.

Firefighters can expect to face warm weather today with mountain temperatures reaching the mid 90s, and some areas in the foothills hitting the 100s, said National Weather Service Meteorologist Curt Kaplan.

"It will stay hot until at least Sunday, then we'll see a little bit of cooling," he said.
