ANAHEIM - Converted from shortstop to pitcher less than four years ago, hard- throwing right-hander Jose Arredondo had a lot to learn. Not all of it was about pitching.
Arredondo, who made his major-league debut in relief Wednesday, was pitching for Double-A Arkansas last June when he reacted angrily to being pulled from a game by Travelers manager Bobby Magallanes.
Arredondo stormed off the mound, then fought with veteran outfielder Curtis Pride when Pride tried to calm him down in the clubhouse.
Arredondo, then 23, was suspended by the Angels' organization and demoted to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga even as he was selected to the Double-A Texas League All-Star team. He was roughed up in the Cal League - a 6.43 ERA and .317 average for opposing hitters.
