ANAHEIM - Jered Weaver was not credited with the victory in Tuesday night's 2-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox, but it sure felt like it to him.
The Simi Valley High product gave up one hit while pitching seven shutout innings. He didn't get the win because the Angels waited until the eighth inning to score.
It didn't matter.
The effort he put forth was a strong indication, to himself, that his early-season troubles might be a thing of the past.
"There was just a little funk that I went through and it was just a matter of snapping out of it by going out there and trusting my stuff," Weaver said. "You keep trying to make minute changes in the bullpen and things like that and try to get that mentality back. That's all you can do."
Being a good listener also helps. Angels pitching coach Mike Butcher noticed a flaw in Weaver's delivery and helped Weaver make the adjustments during a recent bullpen session
