ANAHEIM - The Angels' recurring nightmare had a different ending this time.
Caught in their third pitchers' duel in the past five games, the Angels found a way to push across the night's only runs this time, getting a sacrifice fly by Mike Napoli and a two-out RBI single by Robb Quinlan in the eighth inning for a 2-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox Tuesday night.
The Angels lost back-to-back 2-0 games in Tampa over the weekend. This time, Jered Weaver, Scot Shields and Francisco Rodriguez combined on a three-hitter long enough for the Angels' hitters to scratch out the necessary offense.
"One thing that's important to our club is situational hitting, and tonight we left way too many runners in scoring position," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said of his team, which went 0 for 11 in those situations until Quinlan's two-out single in the eighth.
