ANAHEIM - Rarely can a tear be good news for a ballplayer, but for Howie Kendrick it happened to be the diagnosis he preferred to hear.
Kendrick, who had to halt his rehab assignment for a left hamstring injury last week, said Monday that he underwent an MRI and the results seem to indicate that he tore some scar tissue instead of re-injuring the hamstring.
"I don't know how bad it is or not because it feels good," Kendrick said. "We're just going to keep working on it and hopefully I'll be back sooner than later. I'm ready to be back on the field, but it's not on my timetable. It's when it heals."
Kendrick has been out of action since April 14 and was looking like he was close to a return when he had three hits in a rehab game last Tuesday at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. Two of the hits were home runs, but he felt a twinge in the hamstring while running the bases after his single
