Cal State San Bernardino basketball

Chico State used a run midway through the second half to break open a close game and defeat Cal State San Bernardino 61-51 on Saturday at Coussoulis Arena.

The Coyotes took their first lead of the game at 35-34 on a putback by Kymberly Ooten with 16 minutes left. The game was tied at 39 when the visitors went on an 18-3 run punctuated by two 3-pointers by Taylor Lydon, the last of which made it 57-42.

The Wildcats (12-8, 9-6), fifth in the CCAA and ninth in the West Region, were led by point guard Synchro Bull with 20 points. She was the lone Chico player in double figures. The Coyotes (12-9, 8-8), who are sixth in the CCAA, shot 33.3 percent (21 for 63). They got 14 points and six rebounds from Ooten.

Leading scorer Krystal Urzua was held to just five points. She shot just
