Second half dooms Clippers

BA Clippers give up 15-4 run to start

third quarter, can't recover vs. Denver.

DENVER - The Clippers began their season-long eight-game road trip under the bright lights of a national televised contest in Denver.

They might have even surprised many of those viewing the contest, taking a one-point lead at halftime.

But then last year's Western Conference finalists took charge under guard Chauncey Billups, who scored 13 of his 20 points in the third quarter to break open a tight game, and the Nuggets beat the Clippers 105-85 on Thursday night for their fifth straight victory.

Carmelo Anthony, selected as a starter for the All-Star game in fan balloting announced earlier Thursday, had 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Nuggets, whose winning streak matched a season high.
