LAKERS/CLIPPERS NOTEBOOK: Gasol says he will play tonight

Power forward/center Pau Gasol said he intends to play tonight against the Clippers, returning to the Lakers' starting lineup after sitting out for six consecutive games because of a strained left hamstring.

"That's my plan," he said Thursday afternoon. "I'm ready to play."

Gasol went through a full practice with some of his teammates and reported no problems with his hamstring. He was injured before the Lakers' 35-point rout of the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 3 and played only 7 minutes, 12 seconds.

He then sat out the next six games, including the Lakers' five-point win over the Mavericks on Wednesday in Dallas. The Lakers went 3-3 while he was sidelined. They were 8-3 while he was out because of a strained right hamstring to start the season.
