Center hosts Halloween event - More than 1,000 trick-or-treaters come out for games, candy and companionship

Only here could you find Batman, with his son, Davy Crockett, roaming the streets as other costumed revelers got their fill of Halloween candy.

Thousands of costumed children converged on The Shoppes at Chino Hills as the city held its annual Halloween celebration at the outdoor shopping center this year.

"Overall the event was a success," said Kimberly Radtke, a city recreation coordinator. "It was the largest trick or treat event that we've had in the city, and we offered lots of activities and games and lots of things for the kids."

In the past, the event had been held at the old Chino Hills government civic center. This year, as the new civic center gets ready to open next to The Shoppes next week, organizers decided to hold the city Halloween event in the new downtown.
