Michael Weinlein was so inspired by his elementary school teacher that he too became a educator.
Now, the 55-year-old Ontario resident is trying to inspire his sixth-grade English language arts students at De Anza Middle School.
In addition to being an educator, Weinlein is also the treasurer of the Ontario-Montclair Teachers Association and is California Teachers Association State Council representative.
And his favorite book? "G-d in Search of Man" by Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heshel.
Question: What got you into teaching?
Answer: I am a teacher because a teacher made an impact on me. My fifth- and sixth-grade teacher Martha Finister, she taught me teachers care for their students, but also could challenge and demand academic excellence from each one. She made sure we were prepared for the future. I thought deeply about her when I posted my doctor of philosophy degree. She taught me to stretch my abilities and become all that I could imagine
