Region's unemployment rate rises to 9.5 percent for October
The unemployment rate in the San Bernardino-Riverside-Ontario area rose to 9.5 percent in October - almost double what it was in December 2006, according to a report released by the state Employment Development Department on Friday.
In September, it was 9.1 percent.
San Bernardino County's unemployment rate was 9 percent in October. Riverside County's was 10 percent.
Between October 2007 and October 2008, the region lost 22,300 nonfarm jobs - a 1.8 percent drop - while the agriculture industry added 300 jobs.
