Boni Wish had no intention of opening another business until she saw the "For Lease" sign planted in front of a downtown La Verne shop.
The savvy businesswoman found herself signing the lease papers the very next day.
"I'm very decisive," she said. "Everything is black or white to me."
She opened Wishes Boutique on Oct. 7 and is now selling gifts and clothing, just six weeks after she set her mind on re-entering the retail business. The former Ohio resident owned two boutiques before closing them in 2005. She moved to California with her three teenage children two years ago and swore off the whole idea.
"I didn't want to. I swore I'd never do retail again," Wish said. "It's stressful, very seasonal, (you work) a ton of hours, and there's not a lot of money."
But her passion led her to do it anyway, even in a down economy.
