WEEKEND Q-AND-A: Kingpins no match for Kulick

The world's most famous bowler spent this past week about as far away as possible from Orange County, even though the Pro Bowling Association's Dick Weber Open made its annual stop in Southern California and rolled up to its nationally televised finale this morning.

Kelly Kulick, a self-proclaimed Jersey Girl, stayed home. She had a checkbook issue.

"L.A. is never a guaranteed check for me, and expenses have jumped so much with airlines and hotels and shipping equipment," said last week's celebrated winner of the PBA's Tournament of Champions in Las Vegas - the first woman to capture a men's event in the 51-year history of the tour, against a field of 63 former PBA Tour champions.
