RANCHO PALOS VERDES: I've found the perfect golf staycation.

The Links at Terranea, which opened here last month, is affordable, beautiful and the round doesn't monopolize your entire day.

What more do you need from a golf course?

Terranea is a nine-hole, par-3 course, with a practice facility.

The longest hole is 173 yards, and the shortest 104. You're done playing in 90 minutes or less. The most magnificent thing is you can see the Pacific Ocean from every hole. And, you don't have to pay a fortune to do it (unlike Trump National Golf Club, which is three miles down the road). Nine holes on a weekday is $30, $35 on the weekend.

"The philosophy of playing nine holes near the ocean was about an opportunity to do something that nobody else was doing," said John Fitzpatrick, Terranea's director of golf. "Everybody is trying to build the next longest, hardest golf course. They're missing the boat.
