How the South Bay viewed the inauguration

Kendall Brown, a ninth-grader at El Segundo High School, weaved his way through a crowd of more than a million people and planted himself in a perfect spot to watch the presidential inauguration.

The 14-year-old managed to get to the closest standing section on the National Mall, where he was surrounded by a crush of cheering Obama supporters.

"It was amazing," said Kendall, who lives in Carson and traveled to Washington, D.C., as part of the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference. "I think he's gonna be a great president. He's actually telling us the truth."

Kendall was one of dozens of local students who made the trip to the nation's capital. A class of 18 seniors at Banning High School also attended, thanks to months of diligent fundraising and some tickets from Sen. Dianne Feinstein   Read Full Article...
