More Halloween safety

Manhattan Beach. Here are some tips for a safe Halloween - the first in a series of two - from the Manhattan Beach Police Department Web site.

To read all the tips, go to http://www.citymb.info. Click on Police Department under City Government, and then on Public Safety Resources and tips.

For motorists: Remind all household drivers to remain cautious and drive slowly through the community. Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully.

For pedestrians: Be extra careful when crossing a street where a driver's view is obstructed by a parked vehicle. Drivers will need extra time to slow down when you step out from behind a parked vehicle.

Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Make sure that shoes fit well and that costumes are short enough to prevent tripping - falls are the leading cause of unintentional injuries on Halloween.
