In a league of their own - Sports, beer and community are why success is no fantasy at San Pedro Brewing Company

Fantasy football is a big deal at San Pedro Brewing Company, a brewpub in downtown San Pedro.

A few nights before football season started, about a dozen staff members and regular customers gathered to inaugurate the brewpub's first fantasy football league, where participants select professional football players and set line-ups for a custom -- or fantasy -- roster.

The draft, or player selection, was in the brewpub's special events room. James Brown, the owner-operator, served a ballpark-themed menu of pretzels, nachos, sliders, hot dogs and beer.

Lots of beer.

San Pedro Brewing Company brews its award-winning ales, lagers and hefeweisen on the premises. Ingredients are shipped from other parts of the United States as well as the United Kingdom and Germany.
