Some time back you published the hours that construction could be going on in town and what days they can and can't work. Also, to whom do we report a violation if, say, someone is working on a construction project at 8 p.m. on a Saturday?

The information in the July 12 Ask Us column reported on general noise regulations and not on specific categories of activity.
In general, the city's noise regulations set different limits on noise within daytime (7 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and nighttime (10 p.m. to 7 a.m.) hours.
Separately, the Torrance Municipal Code permits construction work that causes more than 50 decibels of noise in residential areas from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
The code prohibits work on Sundays and holidays observed by City Hall, with an exception from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. if the work is done by homeowners who live on the property
